It's been such a pleasure watching the Language Institute grow over the years. From 1979 when I began working here, the changes have been incredible. I have overseen the transformation of the Institute from a single language lab operation into a multi-faceted support center for all the languages at Rutgers. It has been an exciting and challenging ride.

It is gratifying to me that my Spanish and French studies at Rutgers have served me well in my position as Coordinator of the Language Labs and in my involvement with the summer World Languages Institute, which addresses the need of K-12 language teachers for continued professional development. Those who have never experienced a world language and culture other than their own probably don't even realize how many riches and rewards they are missing.

Working at the Language Institute has been extremely rewarding. I have over 25 years of teaching experience in ESL and German, which has been of invaluable help in presenting workshops to TAs and K-12 language instructors. I also enjoy coordinating the Digiclass project, a web based application for students and instructors linking them to a wealth of information 24/7.

Working at the Language Institute never ceases to amaze me. People of all different backgrounds come in and out of here on a daily basis. It's great to be surrounded by such cultural diversity.
